Michael Edward Winkler

Michael E. Winkler, 73 of Powell, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 14, 2023, with his family surrounding him.
He was born on April 10, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Donald and Mae Winkler.
Mike graduated from Portsmouth Notre Dame High School in 1968. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. He obtained a Masters degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. Mike retired from American Electric Power after 38 years of service in Human Resources.
He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, playing cards and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.
Mike was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Sonja. They recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Mike is survived by his wife Sonja. His two daughters, granddaughters, sisters, numerous nieces & nephews, extended family and friends.
Celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral home, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell, Ohio 43065
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 515 5th Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662 at 1:30pm. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth, Ohio immediately following the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations can made to in support of Mike's granddaughter's quest to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
