Scarberry
Mildred Ellen Scarberry,76, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2010 at First Community Village Nursing Home in Upper Arlington. She lived in Daby Dale, Ohio for 43 years where she raised her family. Mildred was born June 25, 1933 in West Virginia to the late Perry and Maryann (Bowers) Scarberry. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Scarberry; son, Robin Scarberry; granddaughter, Shania Lightle; four brothers, Charles, Herman, Perry and Oran; three sisters, Iva Mae, Irene and Pearl. She is survived by two daughters, Gina (Edward) Lightle and Polly (Terry) Taylor of Columbus, Ohio; son, Philip (Roseann) Scarberry of Delaware, Ohio. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Gretchen, Robin, Tonya, Kasie and Philip whom she dearly loved all the same; four great grandchildren; one brother, Bill (Charlotte) Scarberry of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; best friend of 40 years, Betty McBee; Princess Cookie her Yorkie Terrier and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was employed at Robert Shaw Controls in Grove City for 13 years as a machine operator until medical problems forced her into an early retirement. She loved fine jewelry, Christmas trees, planting tomatoes, collecting country music and porcelain dolls. Mildred loved the cartoon character Betty Boop and also enjoyed shopping every Saturday morning for 25 years with her two daughters and two granddaughters. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Mildred was kind, generous and would give anyone her last dollar. She will be sadly missed by everyone who ever knew her.
