Mona Dayle (Porter) Baker, 75, Columbus, loving wife, mother and grandmother, fell asleep in death on December 16, 2011, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Mona is preceded in death by her father, James Paul Porter, her mother, Amanda (Southward) Porter and brother, Monte Porter. Mona is survived by her loving husband of nearly 59 years, Ray "Baker" Baker; sons, Rex (Roseanna) Baker, David (Kathy) Baker, Rick (Tina) Baker; daughter, Kellee (Karl) Baker-Gaines; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Mona loved the diversity of her family. Mona was a faithful member of the Westerville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mona fought for 14 years with a variety of serious health conditions. She always made everyone laugh even when she was lying in her own sickness and despair. Her humor was amazing! Her husband, "Baker" lovingly became her primary caregiver. Not many people will ever experience the love they had for each other. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, 4-7 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Memorial Talk at 7:00 PM. Jotham White will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 421 East College Avenue, Westerville, OH 43081.
