Naomi Ruth Ferguson

Naomi Ruth Ferguson at the age of 90, one of God's special angels, transitioned from this life on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, March 6, 1933. She was among five children born to Hycel B. Taylor and Hattie Lilly Taylor. All of her siblings preceded her in death.
She graduated from East High School in Columbus, Ohio. She met and married Thomas Charles Ferguson in 1954 and they had two children while living in Columbus, and four children in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. They returned to Columbus in 1969 and opened Ferguson and Powell Tire Sales and Service until 1976.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she led the Children's Choir and was a Sunday School teacher. Later in life she joined Christ Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the Celestial Choir. She enjoyed working with children in the Helping Hands Program and as a foster grandparent in the Columbus City School District. She also worked in administration for the office of Attorney Otto Beatty. Additionally, Naomi was a 26 year breast cancer survivor and volunteered in Reach for Recovery.
Well know for her love of fashion and hats, she modeled in various fashion shows. Naomi enjoyed playing and teaching the piano, singing, shopping and spending time with her children, family, and friends.
Naomi is survived by her children; Deborah Evans, Westerville, OH; Angela Ferguson, Columbia, VA; Teresa (Dallas) Flanagan, Cincinnati, OH; Toya Williams, Vine Grove, KY; Thomas (Norma) Ferguson, Columbus, OH; Catherine (Eric) Lynch, Pickerington, OH; Special Niece Patty Dubose, Denver, CO; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio 43231. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 12:00 pm also at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Columbus Northeast Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
