Nellie Thompson Brooks, 89, of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Columbus West Park Nursing Home. She was born February 18, 1920, in Pineville, KY, daughter of the late William Garfield and Dove Green Robbins. In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her daughter, Lily Mae Thompson and brother, Charles Robbins. She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and worked 18 years for Corning Glass Works. Nellie is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Eugene) Pendygraft; son, Riley Thompson; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Pendygraft; sisters, Lillie Green and Viola Wilson; brother, Cleston (Pauline) Robbins. Visitation will be Monday, February 1, 2010 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 123 Quisenberry Ave. Danville, KY, with Pastor Steve James, officiating and the funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Bellvue Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City.
