Nelson Andrew Glick

March 28, 1949 — September 24, 2024

Orient

It is with great sadness that the family of Nelson Andrew Glick is announcing his passing on September 24, 2024 after battling cancer for 22 months. Nelson was preceded in death by father and mother, Harold Glick and Ruth George Glick, sister Lorraine Glick Burkart Lillie, and brother Douglas Glick. He is survived by son Jason Glick (Jill), grandson Drew Glick (Jake), sister Carol Glick Neill (Brian), sister-in-law Carol Glick. Nelson also leaves behind his companion of 22 years, fishing partner, and caretaker, Jody Deal Hettinger.

Nelson attended Teays Valley High School, and after several jobs following high school, worked for 35 years as a plant maintenance engineer in the power plant, and finished as maintenance supervisor at Pickaway Correctional Institute in Orient, Ohio. He retired in July 2012.

After retirement Nelson and Jody enjoyed winters first in Elloree, South Carolina on Lake Marion and then at Anglers Cove in Lakeland, Florida. Camping in the summer months was enjoyed at Lakeside Resort next to Hargus Lake in Circleville, Ohio. Many happy fishing trips were launched on the boat catching crappie.

Nelson had many interests and hobbies throughout the years. His favorites were fishing and hunting. He raised roosters, built and raced dwarf cars with son Jason, learned to fly remote control, gas-power airplanes, raise and compete beagles for rabbit hunting competition squirrel dogs, competition pay lake catfishing, fishing rod repairs, and was an excellent rigger. He could figure out how to make anything work for what the job needed. Nelson worked with farmers during high school and a few years after retirement he drove a grain buggy for Clifton Family farms, a job that he loved doing.

Nelson will be missed by his many friends and family. There will be no visitation or service. Nelson got a chance to celebrate his family and friends in July with a gathering in his honor, where he could laugh and share stories of times spent together.
