Norma Jean May, 83, of New Albany, Ohio, passed away August 12, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. Norma was born January 11, 1932 in Oakland, MD., to the late Ralph Sr. and Helen Louise (Michael) Smouse.
Norma was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She served for 35 years with passion and enthusiasm at the local and county levels of Oklahoma Home & Community Education (OHCE), an affiliate of Oklahoma State University's Cooperative Extension Service. Her hobbies were needlepoint, baking, and she was an avid sports fan.
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Smouse, Jr. Surviving are her beloved husband of 65 years, Nelson Lee May, daughters Marsha (Perry) Hannah, Valerie (Terry) Poling, Brenda (Kevin) Dobel, Shari (Ben) Murphy, and Jennifer Douglas. In addition, grandchildren Curtis Amber) Hannah, Sam (Norma) Dobel, Kelly Dobel, Stephanie Miggo, Christopher Miggo, and Amanda Miggo, as well as great grandchildren Evelyn Hannah, Abigail Hannah, and Nathan Dobel.
In honoring Norma's wishes, a memorial service was held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens at 1290 Fairmont Rd., Westover, West Virginia, on Friday, August 21st at 1:30pm.
