O.C. Boyd

BOYD
O.C. Boyd, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2012. Born August 25, 1922 in Hollow Rock, Tennessee to the late Osceola and Anna Mae Boyd.

He was a WWII Army Veteran where he assisted the prestigious Tuskegee Airman as their Quarter Master. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart in 1945 for his service.

After graduating from college with his Doctorate, O.C. retired with 34 years from the Ohio Dayton Malleable Iron Company. During the Civil Rights, as an entrepreneur he owned his own gas station, Boyd's Ashland Oil located in the Linden Area.

He often assisted his wife as she was the South Linden Area Commissioner and he was a member of the Westerville Kiwanis.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Lorine Singer; brother, Clydell Boyd; sister, Bertha Mae Arnold; brother, Robert Boyd.

Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 68 years, Rev. Hazel Boyd; 6 beautiful daughters, Hilda Johnson, Delores Johnson, Virgileen Nesby, Swayzene (Elvren) Talley, Crystal Alshawa, Denna (Robert Sr.) Gooch all of Columbus, Ohio; special nephews, Aubrey Arnold, Pastor George Jordan; special daughters, Dorethea Ingram, Sharron Kornegay; 11 grandchildren, Guy Horton, Tia Horton, Monnie White, Macquinta Talley, Virnika Nesby, Chana Sow, Chad (Monika) Talley, Chan Johnson, Yavin Alshawa, Reyna Gooch; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters, Christine Nesbitt of TN, Vera Hedrick, Kathleen Holmes; brother, Odell (Lennie) Boyd; Special sister-in-law, Delores Boyd all of Columbus, OH and brother-in-law, Jerry Arnold of TN; a host of nieces and nephews.

Home Going Service will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at First Church of God, 3480 Refugee Road, Columbus, OH 43232, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services, from 9-10 AM.
Bishop Timothy J. Clarke Senior Pastor will officiate.

Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
