Owen Raymond "Ray" Thivener, age 80 of Westerville, passed away and went to be with our Lord on September 8, 2022. Ray was born on November 21, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio to Owen Lorain and Helen Lucille (Wooten) Thivener.
He graduated from Westerville High School in 1960. Ray was an Army Reserve veteran, as well as a retired Columbus Police Officer. Ray loved music, model airplanes and sports.
He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, his father Owen L. Thivener, his brother Ronald Thivener, and most recently, his mother Helen Lucille (Wooten) Thivener.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years, Carole (Holley) Thivener, his children Glenn David Thivener, Laurie (Thivener) Carney, Aimee (Thivener) Ball, his son-in-law Andrew Ball, and his grandchildren Joshua Butcher, Micah Moore, Bram Carney, Eleanor Carney, D. Alexander Thivener, Ethan Moore, Emily-Rose Moore and Tia Thivener.
Ray will be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Northeast Chapel 3047 E Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus on Saturday, October 1st at 4:00pm.
