Pastor David Taylor

July 31, 1939 — October 18, 2021

Taylor, David Lee
July 31st, 1939 - October 18th, 2021

It is with profound sadness that the family of David Taylor announce his peaceful passing at home surrounded by his beloved family on the 18th of October, 2021 at the age of 82 years, after a hard-fought battle with kidney disease and cancer.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Beverly; children: John Taylor, Melissa (Chad) Fogle and Matthew Taylor; grandchildren: Ashley Taylor, Karissa (Brandon) Myers, Tanner Fogle, Tyler Fogle, and Taitlyn Fogle; Six great grandchildren; sister, Brenda (Cliff) Vaughn; brother, William (Pamela) Taylor; sister, Indy Snyder; special nephew John (Debbie) Wilson; niece Lisa Bowers, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents: John Aaron and Merzie May Taylor; sister, Laura Wilson and his brothers: Eddie Taylor, Jack Taylor and Charlie Taylor.

Dave was born in a small coal town; Rhodell, West Virginia in 1939 to the late John Aaron and Merzie May Taylor. David had a long career of thirty-one years with General Motors in Columbus, OH in the Tool and Die Division, where he was a proud member of the UAW Local 969. A veteran of the United States Army; David's true passion other than his love for his family was his ministry. Dave was a long-standing member of forty nine years with the Church of God of Prophecy and dedicated forty two of those years to pastoring, a role he truly enjoyed until his retirement as pastor in 2019 from the Church of God of Prophecy in Columbus, OH. One of the greatest gifts that Dave leaves us is his godly example of true faithfulness. Dave will forever be remembered as someone who always put the needs of others above his own and would often dedicate his spare time to helping others. An amazing teller of stories, Dave could often be found watching Westerns with one of his grandchildren on his knee, an Oatmeal Cream Pie in hand, all the while making silly faces to produce giggles and laughs; his family was his world. During Dave's courageous fight, his faith in the Lord never faltered, it only made it stronger. We will all continue to celebrate your life in all that we do. A true man of principles and honor, we are all eternally grateful to have been blessed to have called you husband, father, grandfather, pastor and friend. "Say not in grief that he is no more, but in thankfulness that he was". We would also like to extend special thanks to the Fresenius Kidney Team in Grove City for their compassion, caring and assistance over the past few months.
