Patricia "Pat" Spiert, born Hattie Lorene Bandy, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 12, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer.
Ms. Spiert was formerly employed with Lazarus, Westinghouse, Hampton Inn, and Jolly Pirate Doughnuts. She was a member of Lighthouse Ministries, a resident and volunteer at Franklin Manor Apartments for the past 13 years, and was known for personally delivering to the homeless blankets she hand-stitched.
A longtime resident of Columbus, Ms. Spiert was born August 11, 1936 in Pike County, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late George O. Bandy and Cora Belle Kuhn, had 13 siblings, and was a loving friend and mother. Ms. Spiert was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Aaron Akers and Anthony Kendrick. Ms. Spiert is survived by her children, Michael L. Kendrick (Columbus, OH), Teresa L. Kyle (Athens, OH), Debra A. Jewell (Athens, OH), Robert L. Smith (Columbus, OH) and C. Shane Spiert (Columbus, OH). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family held private funeral services, with arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, and requests donations ad memoriam to the Kobacker House, with sincerest thanks to their incredibly caring team.
