Patrick Duane Deer. Born July 22, 1942 in Ironton, Ohio. Died August 15, 2017 at his home in Grove City, OH.
He was a resident of Grove City for over forty years. A hard worker for his entire life, Pat was a professional musician for over twenty years, including seventeen as the business partner and lead guitarist for The Tiny Wellman Band. After leaving the music business, he worked for Dominion Homes until his retirement a few years ago. Pat was a generous man who loved his family. He loved to laugh and to make other people laugh. His life was characterized by his toughness and perseverance in the face of the many challenges that came his way.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years Sue (nee Stout); his son Darrell (Anita) of Amherst Ohio; his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye and the pride of his life, Andrew (Hannah) of Kansas City Missouri, Sarah (Stephen) Brooks of Amherst, Ohio, and Evan of Amherst, Ohio; his great-grandchildren Henley, Amelia, Arbor, and Winston, his brother Gerald, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Alberta Deer, and his brothers Fred and Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH, where a funeral service will begin at 1pm, conducted by Pastor Darrell Deer. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the rebuilding fund of the College Heights Baptist Church in Elyria, Ohio 980 N Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44035.
