Patterimadothil Govindan Gopalakrishnan

Patterimadothil Govindan Gopalakrishnan, 84, of Lewis Center, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 21st, 2023, around 5:30pm. Gopalakrishnan was born in Quilon, Kerala, India. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, G. Santha; his father, Kochukunju G. Govindan; his mother Naniamma Meenakshy; his sisters Sarala Panickar and Santha Yatheendran; and his brother P. G. Venu. He will be deeply missed by his son Vikas Gopal; daughter-in-law Arati Krishna; grandsons Varun Gopal and Karun Gopal; brother P. G. Rajendran; sister Omana Sivaprasad; many nieces, nephews, and numerous relatives, friends, and colleagues in India and in the USA.

Gopalakrishnan graduated with B.Sc (Civil Engineering) from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, and later took his MBA from the Cochin University of Science and Technology. He has held numerous responsibilities in India and abroad including General Manager, KITCO Eranakulam; Managing Director, ORITCO, Bhubaneshwar; and Managing Director, Esteem Developers, Kochi. He was a former chairman of the Institution of Engineers, Kochi and was an active member of the Lion's Club in Kochi.

Gopalakrishnan exuded positivity, compassion, care, and affection. A superuser of 'WhatsApp', he would spend half his day wading through the ocean of posts and texts from his friends and family. Every Sunday, he would call his relatives and friends with scheduled precision to ensure their well-being and many of them would await his predictable call. He shared his kindness and support to many in their adversities and generously bestowed his fond wishes and blessings on youngsters. To his grandchildren, he gave bounteous love and care and also imparted the values that he upheld in his own life. The importance of actively maintaining family connections is his lasting legacy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 10051 Brewster Ln. Powell, Ohio. There will be a private puja with family from 2:00pm to 2:30pm followed by visitation for friends and family from 2:30pm to 3:30pm followed by cremation.
