Papa Pops - The man. The myth. The legend. The best looking drummer in Columbus. Paul Arthur Kobal, 64, died on Monday, January 4, 2021. Paul loved and was loved by: his wife - Connie, his daughters - Jessica Smith (Mark) & Jodie Catalano (Kari, Eric), his grandchildren: Maysa (Lee) Rhoads, Jasmyn Smith (Austin), Lenah Beitshawish (Josh), Giovanni, Nicholas, Vincent, Sophia Catalano, and Rylee Smith. He loved his sister Kris (Lee) Weber, his brothers: Karl (Kathy) Kobal, Mike Kobal, and Tommy Kobal, his Godson and nephew Erik (Laura) Weber, and favorite niece and Goddaughter Emily Weber (Tony). He loved making and performing music with Melvin Mitchell and The Amazing Lindenaires, he loved cooking, reading, spending time with his friends, all dogs, a good beer, grilling, football, Der Dutchman donuts, and Jack Daniel's whiskey. Not necessarily in that order. Paul didn't want a sad funeral- he wanted his tribe to gather over good food, music and sharing memories. His family will plan this when it is safe. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kobacker House, root for the Green Bay Packers, support live music, encourage an artist, and adopt a dog. Buddy Guy said, "Funny thing about the blues-you play 'em 'cause you got 'em. But, when you play 'em, you lose 'em." Play on, Pops, play on.
