Paul E. Nixon, 68, of Mt. Vernon, went home to be with his Lord on October 25, 2021. Paul was born July 4, 1953 in Rantoul, IL to Doyle and Dorothy (Wostenholm) Nixon.
Paul Nixon was a kind, gentle and humble man, he was a friend to all. Often found gardening with his wife, playing with his grandkids or traveling to Ocracoke Island with his family. An avid reader, Paul loved historical biographies. If he wasn't reading one of his multiple books in his barcalounger, he was instilling the love of literature to his grandchildren. He retired from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University Library after 18 faithful years.
Paul adored his wife Brenda ("Panda") and his two daughters, and happily welcomed their husbands into his heart as sons. He also stepped into the gap to be a father to many throughout his life. Paul exceeded in his role as son, brother, husband, and father; however, his greatest joy in life was being called, "papa" by his precious grandchildren. Faithful in all he did, Paul remained steadfast in his walk with the Lord. He passed peacefully with his family at his side, confident he was going home to be with his Heavenly Father.
Paul will be deeply missed by his wife Brenda (McCorkle) of 43 years; children Lynsey (Harvey) Swartzentruber, Laura (Nathan) Kochheiser; grandchildren Paul Elliott, Grant Michael, Zoe Joy, Madi Grace; dad Doyle; brother David (Kimberly) Nixon; sister Teresa (Neal) Stuart along with many other family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 2pm until the time of service at 4pm at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene 16001 Glen Rd. Mt. Vernon, OH 43050.
