Margaret "Peggy" Lee Junker, beloved mother, teacher, and servant of the Lord, age 62, passed away suddenly but peacefully at her home in Columbus, Ohio on February 8, 2021. Peggy dedicated her entire life to serving and educating others and her loss is deeply felt throughout the communities she impacted.
Peggy was born on May 14, 1958 in Grand Rapids, MI and moved with her family to Lancaster, OH in 1964. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1976 and went on to study Music Education & Vocal Performance at Elon University in North Carolina as a Presser Music Scholar.
Peggy worked at Veritas Christian Academy for 20 years. Her roles during that time include school administrator, music history teacher, choir teacher, and leading the school assembly biblical teachings. Peggy was a devout follower of Jesus and her unwavering devotion to her faith was interwoven in everything she did. Peggy also spent her weekends volunteering her time as a worship leader for the children's ministry at Vineyard Columbus.
In 2006, Peggy was diagnosed with breast cancer and courageously underwent chemotherapy treatment and in 2010 Peggy was declared cancer free which she remained for the rest of her life. Her strength and perseverance during her battle was an inspiration and testament to her stoic resilience in the face of adversity.
Preceded in death by both parents, Richard "Dick" and Margaret "Polly" (Stuart) Gray and her brother, Mac Gray. Peggy is survived by her three children, Christopher Junker, Nicholas Junker, and Michael Junker; siblings, Davis Gray (Josine), Sally Farnick (Rob), and Nancy Gray; nieces and nephew, Macy Gray, Nique Gray, and Richard J. Gray.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northeast Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231.
