Peggy J. Rhoades, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away on March 4, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Born on July 29, 1948, Peggy touched the lives of many during her 76 years, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and kindness.
For over 30 years, Peggy dedicated herself to The Ohio State University Medical Center, where she served as a trauma registrar manager. Her commitment to her work was overshadowed only by her unwavering dedication to her family. A graduate of Columbus North High School, Peggy carried her educational achievements throughout her life, embodying the spirit of lifelong learning.
Peggy was the embodiment of sweetness and compassion, always finding ways to brighten the days of those around her. She had a sharp wit that could lift spirits and a determination that saw her through life's challenges with grace. Those who were fortunate enough to know her would describe her as the purest definition of a grandmother. She promised to be a source of comfort to her loved ones, especially when it came to her culinary talents. Peggy relished holidays and family gatherings, where her legendary cooking brought everyone together and filled their hearts and homes with warmth and love. She was especially fond of seafood, and her passion for food extended to her appreciation for dining out and exploring the culinary scene.
In her leisure time, Peggy's love for reading, antiques, and collecting all things brought her immense joy. She cherished her time spent amongst her pets and had a special affinity for Christmas, filling her home with holiday cheer.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband, James A. Rhoades, Sr., and her two sons, James A. Rhoades, Jr. and Timothy D. (Camden) Young. Her grandchildren, Samantha Young, Brendan Young, Piper Rhoades, and Finn Rhoades, will forever hold dear the memories of their amazing grandmother who showered them with unconditional love and support. Peggy also leaves behind her siblings, Kathleen (Mike) Riegleman and Steve (Kim) Young, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom are grateful for the time they shared with such a remarkable woman.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas J. Young Sr. and JoAnn (Autz), and her siblings, Linda, Tom, Chris, Matt, and Bobbie. Their memories will remain alive within her family and friends as they celebrate the wonderful life she led.
As we remember Peggy J. Rhoades, we honor her incredible spirit, the warmth she brought into our lives, and the legacy of love that will continue through her family.
