Bass
Perkins Burnham Bass III, 81, died peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2011. Perk was born May 1, 1930 to Perkins B. Bass, Jr. and Ellen Gibson Bass in Evanston, IL. Early in life Perk was active in the Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot. Working for Boeing Aerospace took Perk around the country and included working on the Saturn V and the Apollo space flight projects. After leaving Boeing, Perk went on to positions at the Universities of Kentucky and Washington, considering Seattle to be his home. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Anne Lawrence Bass; children, Sarah (Gary Buchholz) Bass, James Bass and Julia (Joseph) Webber; grandchildren, Nathan and Elizabeth Buchholz, Aspen Patterson, Rowan and David Bass, Travis and Ryan Webber. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Chicago at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Columbus Colony Eldercare, 1150 Colony Dr. Westerville, OH 43081.
