Peter Ancher Ammentorp, age 90, of Middletown, passed away December 13, 2016 at First Community Village in Upper Arlington. Born December 19, 1925 in Copenhagen, Denmark to the late Jørgen and Kate (Dupont) Ammentorp, he graduated from the University of Copenhagen Medical School and had his internship and residency at the University of Cincinnati and Case Western Reserve University. Peter was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Katharine (Woodward) Ammentorp, and his brother, Henrik. He is survived by his sister Karen, of Copenhagen, and his four children, Patricia (Thomas) Adams of Stonington, CT; Susan (Bruce) Wright of Rocky River, Christine (Calvin) Zimmerman, of Columbus, and Thomas of St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Peter was a physician in the practice of Internal Medicine in the Middletown community for many years. He studied to become the first physician in Middletown to perform echocardiograms. He served two months as a volunteer physician for Vietnamese citizens during the war. Peter's hobbies included sailing, reading and playing the piano. He was a patron of the arts, especially the symphony. In retirement, he volunteered as a docent at the Cincinnati Art Museum.
