Phillip R. Badger, 80 years old, from Grove City, Ohio died Monday night, July 18, 2022. Phillip was born on July 27, 1941 to Ernest and Edith Adams Badger of New Albany, Indiana.
Phillip graduated from new Albany Senior High School in 1959 and started his 47 years of employment with Associated Press in September 1959. Phillip retired in June 2006.
Phillip married Linda Davis, who survives him, on April 25, 1964. Phillip and Linda made the move to Grove City/Columbus, Ohio area in January 1972 when they chose to stay with Associated Press.
Phillip loved to fish, especially with his son, David, and his grandson, Shea. He was also very much involved with collecting and buying sports cards throughout the years and enjoyed many hours with his son, Craig and grandson Aidan discussing the value of these cards and which ones to sell which ones to keep. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan and was also a fan of any sport team that played against and beat Ohio State!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Edith badger and two brothers, Jerry and David. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda; two sons, David (wife Angela Shea) and Craig (wife Sarah Perkins); one sister, Delores Darnell (husband, Steve), one brother, Larry; three nieces, Melissa and Karen Badger; Edye Case (husband DeMarco Case), three grandsons, Cameron, Shea and Aidan and three granddaughters, Gracie, Dazy, and Mia.
There will be no visitation hours or funeral service. There will be a private viewing for the immediate family only and cremation will follow.
In honor of Phillip, the family is asking for donations to be made to American Diabetes Association and National Kidney Foundation.
