Phyllis Evelyn Leach, a vibrant soul who touched the hearts of many, has peacefully passed away on August 6 2024. She was born on August 30, 1943, and during her lifetime, she left an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her career, Phyllis dedicated herself to serving others with grace and compassion. Her tenure at Big Lots spanning two decades and also at K-Mart showcased her strong work ethic and dedication to her craft. Beyond her professional life, Phyllis was known for spending countless hours on the phone with her beloved friends, nurturing those meaningful connections that brought her immense joy.
Described as a feisty and sassy lady with a sharp wit, Phyllis was never one to shy away from speaking her mind. Her classy demeanor shone through in every aspect of her life, from meticulously dressing to perfection to always being there for those in need as a loyal and trustworthy friend.
In her leisure time, Phyllis found solace in the beauty of nature through gardening and cultivating vibrant flowers. She cherished moments shared with friends over dinners and margaritas, embracing the lively spirit of each gathering. A staunch Jimmy Buffett fan, she found joy in his music and even dabbled in ceramics creation. Her love for shopping and embarking on exciting cruises highlighted her adventurous spirit.
One of Phyllis's proudest accomplishments was her exceptional talent for dancing, which earned her several coveted awards over the years. Her passion for dancing not only brought happiness into her own life but also inspired others to follow their dreams unapologetically.
Despite facing a challenging battle with breast cancer for seven years, Phyllis approached each day with unwavering strength and resilience. Her courage in confronting adversity serves as a testament to the remarkable woman she was—full of determination and unwavering spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Surviving family includes, Son, Rodney (Jo) Merritt, daughter Rhonda Merritt, close friends; Cindy Davis, Nancy Sergeant, Dan Clarkson, Tracy Green, Ginger Workman, Terri Dickson, and many other friends.
Phyllis Evelyn Leach will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of her surviving friends and family. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love she so generously shared during her time on Earth.
