Phyllis Mae Sparks

Phyllis Mae Sparks, 81, of Columbus, passed away on November 9, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on May 28, 1943 in Logan, Ohio to the late Phillmon and Thelma (Bond) Leffler. She married Paul T. Sparks on April 11, 1962 and after 53 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on March 20, 2016. 

Those left to cherish the memories of Phyllis include two daughters, Krystal K. (Kurt) Luebkeman of Marysville and Terry (Rick) Needles of Dublin; grandson, Isaiah Luebkeman of Columbus; granddaughter, Victoria (Fiancé, Tanner Vassar) Luebkeman of Washington; sister, Carole (Kenny) Gregg of Lancaster; a nephew; and many nieces and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul.

Phyllis graduated in 1961 from Union Furnace High School. She had many titles professionally through the years. She worked in the food service industry in a hospital and school, production departments of companies, as well as being a dedicated Mom. When she wasn’t at work, Phyllis loved to cook for her family. She and Paul enjoyed camping with a close circle of friends, gathering with friends they made in Paul’s LVAD support group, visiting family, and spending time with her cat, Chrissy. 

Immediate family will greet friends and family from 11:30am to 1:30pm, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral, Northeast, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, 43231. A service to honor her life will be held at 1:30pm, Thursday, November 14, 2024; also, at the funeral home, officiated by Son-in-law, Pastor Kurt Luebkeman. Burial of cremated remains to be held privately at a later date at Green Lawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
