Purl "Pete" Smalley, 88, of Gahanna, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008. Born to Thomas and Gertrude (Wills) Smalley in Bradford, OH on October 15, 1920, Pete was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen M. Smalley; grandson, Justin Prawlocki; 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Survivors include his daughters, Lenore (Jose) Chavez and Rebecca (John) Prawlocki; grandchildren, Gregory (Lisa) Chavez, Marcus Chavez, Adam and Adrien Prawlocki; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Juliana Chavez. Pete worked for Con-Rail for 43 years and was a member of the Masons, Gahanna Historical Society and United Trainers. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008, 9-10 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service at 10:00AM . Interment will follow at Mifflin Twp Cemetery. Donations in memory of Pete may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Ohio, 1373 Grandview Avenue, Suite 200, Columbus, OH 43212 or the Gahanna Historical Society, 106 S. High Street, Gahanna, OH 43230.
