R. Dorreen Zimmer, 85, died peacefully on November 20th, 2023. She was a loving mother of three daughters, Chris Fields (Dale), Debbie Ashley (Kenny), and Traci Blair (Dave). She was also a loving Grammy to granddaughters, Nicole (Matt), and Megan (Nick), and an adoring Gigi to four great granddaughters Lucy, Emma, Abigail, and Hannah who she loved dearly. She also had several nieces and nephews.
Dorreen built an unbeatable bond between the daughters she raised, and the daughters they raised, and the daughters they raised. The strength that she influenced on each of them will impact many generations after.
She was a social butterfly wherever she went. She was silly, snarky and loved deeply. She made an impact with everyone she came in contact with. She maintained friendships with many for decades. Dorreen had a special place in her heart for high school friend Bertie Newton who will miss her dearly. Spending her latter years at Homestead Village in Grove City where she made countless friends.
Retiring from Worthington Schools as a school bus driver of over 30 years. Driving the bus for as long as she did, Dorreen, loved all the children she drove for, but had a special affinity with her kindergarten kids.
She spent some of her retirement in Texas with her partner Tony and her brother Bill and sister-in-law Dinah.
She was a devoted Christian, spending much of her time in various Lutheran churches throughout her travels. She was a member of St. John's in Grove City, Ohio, and First Lutheran Church of Burnet, Texas.
She loved her family, the Blue Bonnets of Texas, Luke Bryan and her soap operas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry of 27 years, her parents Vera and William Williams, brother Bill Williams, sisters Marie Carter and Martha Thompson, son-in-law Dale Fields and great grandson Noah Grossman.
Service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 3220 Columbus St., Grove City on November 30th at 12:00p. Visitation will begin at 11am, with lunch following the service.
