OCKER
Reed Gilbert Ocker, 96 years of age, Columbus resident, passed away on Sunday, April 4th, 2010. Reed was a Navy "Seabee of America", Veteran of WWII, retired from Mid America after 27 years of service as a lineman. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, National Seabees of America, and National Rifle Association of Iowa.
Reed was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva Ocker, one son, Robert Ocker, and two brothers, Glen and Ralph Ocker. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ruth Eileen (Hayslip) Ocker, one son, Jerry (Mary Alice) Ocker, one daughter, Jane Ocker, one step daughter, Peggy Edwards, four granddaughters, and seven great grandchildren.
Memorial service with military honors will be on Sunday, April 11th, 2010, at 6:30 PM at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 5200 Sullivan Avenue, Columbus, OH 43228.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made the American Legion or VFW.
Inurnment in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge, Iowa.
