Rev. Leo Amos Frailey

August 29, 1942 — March 18, 2025

Pataskala

Rev. Leo A. Frailey, age 82, of Pataskala, Ohio, entered his final Sabbath rest on March 18, 2025, when he departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on August 29, 1942, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, to the late James Fred and Iva Frailey.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, his daughter Jessica, and his siblings Flo Manter, Jim Frailey, Barbara Oyer, and Emma Jean Singer.

He is lovingly survived by his children Jonathan Frailey, Jennifer (Chris) Manemann, and Joel (Erin) Frailey; by his grandchildren, Rebecca Frailey, Elizabeth and Ethan Manemann, and Ellie and Evan Frailey; by his great-grandchildren, Kasen James and Hadley Rene’ Arnett; and by his sister, Nancy (Raun) Treible.

He fought the good fight. He finished the race. He kept the faith. Now he wears a crown of righteousness.

Leo faithfully served for over fifty years, both as a teacher in the Gahanna-Jefferson Public School system and as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, having received his Bachelor of Science in Education from East Stroudsburg University in 1964 and his Master of Divinity from Faith Theological Seminary in 1969.

As a teacher, he served from 1973 until his retirement in 2002 as the Occupational Work Experience (O.W.E.) coordinator at Gahanna Lincoln High School, teaching, counseling, and working with at-risk students.

Leo’s service as a minister began in 1969 when he was ordained as a pastor at Calvary Bible Church in Columbus, Ohio; he then served as pastor of Grace Reformed Church in Columbus, Ohio, from 1970 until 1973. In 1980, he was received into the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), and he served as the Regional Home Missionary of the Presbytery of Ohio until 1989. He then served as Associate Pastor of Jersey Reformed Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Jersey, Ohio, from 1991 to 1999. Subsequently, he served as Associate Pastor of Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church in Gahanna, Ohio until 2005, when he became Associate Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Columbus, Ohio. He served there until his retirement from active ministry in 2011. Despite being retired, Leo continued to serve the Presbytery of Ohio and its congregations in various ways until he was physically unable to do so.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends will be received at Jersey Church, 13260 Morse Rd., New Albany, OH 43054, on Friday, March 28, 2025, beginning at 9 A.M., followed by a funeral service at 10:30 A.M.
