Reverend William D. Smith, 72, of Hillsboro and formerly of Columbus, passed away Friday, August 20, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. William was born in Columbus, OH on February 12, 1938, to Joseph W. and Pauline (Thomas) Smith and is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Andrew A. Smith. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda (Nicodemus) Smith; sons, Brock W. (Sherri) Smith and Darrin L. (Cindy Delt) Smith; sisters, Josephine (Sam) Hopson and Paula Miller; brothers, Larry Miller and Kelly Smith; grandchildren, Devon, Chelsea, Kacey, Brittney, Cody, Brandy; sister-in-law, Thelma Smith; nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. William served in the US Navy from 1958-1964. Reverend Smith served several churches in the Columbus area including the Whitehall Church of Christ in Christian Union for 15 years and most recently was serving the Bainbridge Church of Christ in Christian Union. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH with the Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 25, 2010, 11:00 AM. Interment to follow at Madison Mills Cemetery.
