Richard John Caiazza passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 at Doctors West Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born to Antonette and Rocco Caiazza in Canton, Ohio on July 29th, 1952.
Rick graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1970. It is in Canton where he began a family and worked various jobs, touching and teaching lives. His first job was a mobile home mechanic, but throughout his adventures, he found he was truly passionate about being a chef. He loved creating and revamping dishes with “what makes sense” ingredients.
Rick loved his family and always shared photos and stories of his visits. He was an avid lover of golf, jeopardy, cooking, Buckeye sports (especially football), and sweet treats, although he would never admit it. Rick had a strong-willed personality with a “louder than life” voice. Old westerns, classic movies, the Hallmark channel, and any kind of criminal detective shows were always his favorite to watch into the late evenings, as long as he had a strawberry popsicle in hand.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonette and Rocco Caiazza. His stories, passions, recipes, and love will be carried on by his loving wife of 24 years, Andrea; his children Damon (Sara) Caiazza and Courtney (Gerald) Saunders; his grandchildren Camryn, Carson, and Claire Caiazza and Sidney and Trent Leatherman; his stepchildren Allison and Drew Cox; his siblings Pam Dobbins, Ann Scavelli, Roger (Rita) Caiazza, and Anthony (Hope) Caiazza.
Family, friends, and anyone whose lives Rick touched are welcome to join us at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123, from the hours of 7 - 9 PM, Friday, May 31st, 2024 to grieve, support, and share favorite stories.
In lieu of flowers, generous contributions can be made in his memory to First Tee (firsttee.org) Golf Charity.
