Richard D. Austin, 82, of Columbus, suddenly passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008. Born to Calvin and Helen Austin, Sr., on December 9, 1925 in South Charleston, OH., Richard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lula Mae (Bell) Austin; brother, Calvin Austin; sisters, Helen Hammonds and Carmella Austin; brother-in-law, John D. Bell; niece, Erica A. Bell. Survivors include his God Child, Cassandra (Thomas) Foy; brothers, Donald (Gloria) and Paul Austin; sister, Barbara; nieces, Ann Elaine Fields, Monica Bell, special niece, Jasmine Cunningham, Kierra Bell; nephews, Shelby and Christopher Bell; brothers-in-law, Frederick O. (Mira) Bell, Melvin A. (Wanda) Bell, Leroy A. (Evelyn Elaine) Bell and Lawrence S. Bell; sisters-in-law, Diane M. Bell, Denise Austin; numerous other nieces, nephews, friends, and his church family from Grace Apostolic. Richard was affectionately known as "Uncle Richard" by all who knew him. He worked and retired from Dayton Malleable after 30 years. After retirement he worked for Nationwide Insurance for 10 years. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2008, 9-10 AM at Grace Apostolic Church, 1743 E Lakeview Avenue, Columbus, OH with the funeral service at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memory Gardens, 7060 St Rt 3, Westerville, OH. Bishop James Gaiters will officiate.
