Richard W. Holcomb was born to Donald R. Holcomb and Elizabeth McFarlane on November 21, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. He passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He grew up in Cleveland, spent a brief time in New York City and several years in California before returning to Cleveland. He is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America, Certified in Diamond Grading and Evaluation, Colored Stone and Gen Identification. Richard owned Faber Jewelry in Rocky River, Ohio. He worked for Merksamer's when he first arrived in Columbus, Ohio and later worked for the Diamond Cellar. Richard preferred working to retirement and joined COSTCO on Gemini Place in Columbus. He enjoyed working at COSTCO and made many friends there.
Richard was a very kind and generous man with a large sense of humor. He had a gift for gab and made friends wherever he went. He loved flowers especially those at Innis Wood Park where he walked many times. He also loved animals and adopted several during his lifetime. Richard played the guitar and enjoyed music, particularly the sounds of the sixties and seventies.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lynne; daughter, Heidi (Brian) Moorman; sister, Jean (Joe) Filippone and two granddaughters, Bethany Emily Moorman and Brandi Elizabeth Moorman.
The family will receive friends from 2-3pm, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, N.E., 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231 where the memorial service will held following at 3:00pm.
