Richard "Dick" B. Lester, 69, of Columbus, went to meet his Higher Power on Monday, July 14, 2008 at Mt. Carmel West. Dick was born and raised in Isaban, W. VA. He was a 1956 graduate of Gilbert High School and attended Concord College, a member of several organizations, including Alcoholics Anonymous (27 years), ASA, OHSAA, USSSA, 1993 Hall of Fame member of USFTL. Dick is survived by his wife, Peggy Jean; daughters, Lori (John) Staten, Mary Beth (Eric) Call; son, Richard D. (Jenny) Lester; step-sons, Mike (Kim) Friend and Mark (Trina) Friend; grandchildren, Courtney Lee, Hilary, and Kellen Lester, Gage Call, Jesse Staten, Logan, Michael, Charis, Ally and Kyla Friend; great granddaughter, Olive "Gracie" Prewitt; brothers, George (Pat), James (Janet), and John (Kim) Lester; aunts, Helen Higginbotham and Margaret Myers; and longtime friend, Jack Frost. He was preceded in death by his parents, George R. and Mary Lou Lester; and brother, Billy. Services to celebrate Dick's life for family and friends will be Friday, July 18, 2008 from 3:00PM-7:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio with funeral services immediately following at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dick to AA-Alcoholics Anonymous, 1561 Old Leonard Ave, Columbus, Ohio 43203.
