Richard Lee Schmidt

Richard Lee Schmidt age, 66, of Columbus, Ohio went home to be with our Lord on June 1, 2021 while surrounded by family after a hard fought battle.
Rick was born to Charles (Pappy) and Faithe Schmidt on April 15, 1955 in Columbus, OH.
Graduating from Linden McKinley High School in 1973.
He immediately entered into Auto mechanic work, also retiring from The Columbus Dispatch Printing Co. in 2015, after 39 years of service (quarter century club).
Rick was a avid teamster member of local 473.
On March 30, 1979 he married Jeanne D. (Haddox) Schmidt.
Rick had a love of the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, bowling and being with family and friends sleeping in the tent in the middle of winter.
He also had a talent for growing gardens and indoor plants.
He was a lover of music and motorcycles and could be known by his nickname "Rodeo".
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Charles E. Schmidt, Faithe D. (Reed) Schmidt; brother-in-law, Randy Haddox; and sister-in-law, Barbara (Haddox) Mullins.
He is survived by wife Jeanne D. (Haddox) Schmidt; brother, Charles "Bunk" (Linda) Schmidt; sister, Bonnie (Jim) Rakich; sons, Richard (Amanda) Schmidt, Charles (Lorena) Schmidt; daughters, Elisha (Steve) Rife, Barbara (Octavio) Rojas; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Funeral Service immediately following at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus - OH.
