Richard Sewell

Richard Allen Sewell aka Rick Spade, 70 succumbed to the effects of Lewy Body Dementia on December 31 2023, at home with his family by his side.

Born March 8, 1953 in Akron, Rick was an avid drummer well known in the Ohio musical circles. His talent carried him through more than 40 years in bands such as Ramblin Rangers, Josey Wales, Prowler and Pure Bull. He had the opportunity to play and create music with many local musicians as well as opening for some greats like Sly and the Family Stone, Ricky Skaggs, The Temptations and more.

Rick is preceded in death by daughter, Richelle Sewell, parents Steve Sewell and Nancy Sewell Garrabrant, sister JoAnn Miller, brother in laws, Jeff Miller, Dan Toney and Michael Pinson, cousin, Kenny DeVault, uncles, Ray Snyder, Tom Simmerman and John DeVault, Aunt Ginny DeVault and close personal friends Paul Kooser and Darwin Conley.
Rick left behind daughter Ryan A. Allen George, grandson PFC Colton Fraker, Step Father Harvey Garrabrant, sisters Liz Pinson, Amy Toney, Sue {Darrell} Thomas, Barb {Dan} Copley, brother Ben Garrabrant and close friends John Blanton and Skeeter Wolfe and many aunts uncles nieces nephews and friends who will miss him and treasure the memories they've made with him.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2:00pm until time of service at 3:30pm.
