Richard Eckstein, age 75 of Westerville, passed away at his residence on June 19, 2020. He was born on January 6, 1945 to the late Melvin and Helen (Paolini) Eckstein in Columbus, OH. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years RoseAnn (Bell) Eckstein, children Sheri Eckstein and Jennifer Eckstein, grandchildren Ashlee (Lance) Netral, A.J. Hedrick, Chelsea (Tyler May) Bailey, Jalen Liggins, Zak Korbel and Kenzie Korbel, great grandchildren Jude and Livy Netral, Leanna and Aaron Hedrick, Alehna and Cora May. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by brother Tom Eckstein.
Rick spent his childhood with his parents and older brother in Columbus Ohio. He joined the Army Reserves once he graduated from Bishop Watterson high school. After his time in the reserves he worked at General Motors until he retired and opened his own business, Global Golf.
Rick was a amazing man who was dedicated to his online Card games, his many novels he read, golf (in his "younger" days), working on his cars (especially his yellow Corvette Stingray), his golf business but most of all he was dedicated to his family. He met his wife RoseAnn, on a blind date when she was still in High school and have been inseparable since. They were married on July 2nd 1966 and have spent 54 years together cherishing their two daughters, grand kids and great grand kids. Rick never gave up, he fought this rare cancer with all his strength. He loved and appreciated all the nurses and doctors at The James at OSU along with all others who supported him during his fight. We want to thank Hospice of Central Ohio, especially Anna his nurse and all the other nurses (or nuns as he would call them) who we called on to help this silly yet stubborn old man. The love and care they gave Rick will never be forgotten. We would also like to thank everyone for the continued love and support for our family during this difficult time.
