Robert "Bob" H. Barr III, 71, of Johnstown, Ohio, passed away Wednesday morning, December 9, 2020 surrounded by his sons. Robert, the eldest of four, was born on January 3, 1949 to the late Petty Officer (USN, WWII) Robert Barr Jr. and Rose Alice Budd, in Columbus Ohio.
Bob was fond of his youth growing up in Clintonville and graduated from North High School in 1967. He later married Doris Gates in 1968.
Robert was the proud owner of a construction company building numerous homes throughout central Ohio. An unforeseen injury led to his early retirement from a job he treasured dearly.
Beginning in 1992, he went to work for the Ohio Department of Transportation where he later retired. Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to watch OSU football and basketball games with his brother Dan and old westerns.
Robert is survived by his former wife Doris Barr and their three sons; David and Charlene of Alexandria Ohio, Jeffrey Barr of Johnstown Ohio, and CWO5 (USN, Ret) Richard and Irish of Jacksonville Florida, six grandchildren; LT USN Myesha Barr, Cameron Barr, Lexius Barr and Dominique Torres, Bradalynn Barr, Dylan Barr and Zev Barr. He loved and cherished each of his grandchildren and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. He is also survived by brother Petty Officer 1st Class (Vietnam) Jeffrey Barr and sister Julie McCollum; as well as several nieces, nephews and relatives.
Dad you left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you're always by our side.
Think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched… for nothing loved is ever lost and he was loved so much.
