Robert P. Dixon, affectionately known as "Bob," was born on November 27, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio. He departed from this world on January 24, 2025, surrounded by his family and friends at his home. Bob's life was a testament to his unwavering dedication to those he loved and served.
Bob enjoyed a commendable career with the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he worked diligently until his well-earned retirement. His strong work ethic was closely matched by his tenacity—qualities that defined his approach to life and made him a reliable figure in the community.
Though often described as stubborn, those who knew him understood that this trait was accompanied by a soft heart and a deep care for others. Bob was especially attentive to the elders and people with disabilities, embodying the true spirit of a provider. He was not just a handy man; he was a loving family man whose intelligence and sweetness endeared him to many.
In his leisure time, Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Fishing and camping were his passions, along with the satisfaction of keeping his yard meticulously cared for. He cherished being outside in nature, often spending serene moments on his back deck, where he would quietly observe wildlife. Bob also enjoyed painting, whether he was painting dents and scratches on vehicles parked in his driveway, or walls in the house.
Bob's proudest accomplishments revolved around his beloved family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Rosanne Dixon; his loving daughters, Serena Dixon, Amanda Dixon, and Melissa Cunningham; and his son, Scott Cook. He was a cherished grandfather to Madison Dixon, Makenzie Norris, Maci Dixon, Ethan Cook, Elliana Cook, Destany Dixon, Daniel Batista, Brandon James, and Blake Cunningham. Bob's family legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Crew Moss and Dream Dixon. He also leaves behind his brothers, Larry (Diane) Dixon and Dan Dixon, along with many treasured nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his father, Robert Lowry Dixon, and mother, Bernice Catherine Dixon.
Bob's life journey will be honored with a visitation on February 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio. As we remember Bob, we celebrate the profound love he shared and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched.
