Robert Leroy "Bob" Brainard Jr., 72, passed away on March 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by parents, Robert Leroy Brainard Sr. and Corrine Brainard; sister, Janette Miller; and love of his life, Mary Wilson. Bob is survived by daughter, Holly and Joe Stage; granddaughters, Blair Brainard and Ben Imburgia and Caitlyn and Daniel Dunn; great-granddaughter, Olivia Fultz; three nieces who fondly remember their uncle Bobby, Kelly, Janette, and Annette and their families; grand-dog, and best friend, Baker; and mother-in-law, Olive Wilson.
Bob graduated in 1969 from Elyria High School, where he played baseball. He then enlisted in the US Navy in 1969 and graduated from submarine school on November 21, 1969. Bob was stationed at Pearl Harbor and Guam before heading to Vietnam. He lived underwater on the USS Woodrow Wilson (SSBN 624) for four months in South Vietnam near Cam Rahn Bay. Bob was a machinist mate and served his country honorably for six years, including time in the Reserves. He was lucky enough to go on the Honor Flight on September 9, 2022.
Bob retired from Defense Supply Construction Center in 2006 after 30 years of service. If anyone knows Bob, he cannot sit still, and worked delivering parts for Auto Zone until recently.
He enjoyed Ohio State football and rooted for anyone who played against TTUN or the SEC. Bob was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, which he enjoyed watching with his daughter and granddaughter, along with his grand-dog, Baker. He enjoyed weekend breakfasts with Blair and Ben.
Per Bob's wishes, there will be no public services. There will be a burial at Pleasant Cemetery in Mt. Sterling at a later date.
