Robert Preston Dillard, Jr.

Robert Preston Dillard, Jr., 73, of Columbus, transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born on April 11, 1951, in Pocahontas, Virginia, to the late Robert Preston Dillard, Sr., and Louise (Horton) Dillard.

Robert was baptized at Union Grove Baptist Church, where he attended services and served as an altar boy. He graduated from South High School in 1969 and attended Central State University. Robert had a career spanning over 40 years as an electrician in central Ohio and was a proud IBEW Local 683 union member.

He was passionate about watching football and science fiction, volunteering, helping others, and spending quality time with his family. On January 31, 1975, Robert married Nora L. Spencer, and they shared many cherished years.

Robert leaves behind a loving family, including his sons, Charles Dillard, and John Dillard; his daughter, Maia Dillard; his grandchildren, Shia, Kaia, Ty, Shawnae, Morgan, Dominique, Mikita, Bonita, and Daykayle; and his great-grandchildren, Journee and Ja’Shawn. He is also survived by his six siblings, Olivia (James) Rusher, Wanda Dillard, Janie (Ramon) McGee, Darcel (Derek) Dillard-Suite, William (Michelle) Dillard, and Anthony (Kelly) Dillard; his aunts, Ethel Horton and Patricia Lowe; his great-aunt Sylvia Spencer; his uncle Harold Fitzgerald; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Louise (Horton) Dillard; his daughter, Usha Dillard; his brother, Charles E. Dillard; and his nephew, William Dillard II.

Immediate Family will greet friends and family and service to honor Roberts life will be held between 12noon and 2:30pm,  February 18, 2025; Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions – Northeast, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, 43231.
