Robert E. Barber, 69, of Pickerington, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born to Harry and Maude (Ward) Barber in Nelsonville, OH., on December 9, 1939, and was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, JoAnn Shoup. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Connie (Scott) Barber; daughters, Cynthia (Andrew) Abel and Dorene McCarthy; son, Scott (Robin) Barber; sisters, Margaret Fore and Patricia (Dan) Shivers; brothers, John Edward and William (Elphia) Barber; grandchildren, Christopher Barber, Vincent and Branson McCarthy, Faith and Nathan Abel, Brady, Kyle and Rae Hedglin; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Bob was a member of United Asbestos Workers Local 50 and was a veteran of the US Army. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009, 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service on Friday, November 20, 2009, 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
