Robert Neil Fulton

Robert Neil Fulton passed away November 5, 2022, at the age of 79, in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio. His battle with serious medical issues for many years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a bright, infectious smile and larger than life personality. Despite these issues, Neil was always there for his family and friends in any capacity he could help.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Drury Fulton and Esther Francis (Herriott) Fulton and brother Paul Darrell Fulton. Neil was a 1960 graduate of Columbus Central High School, where he played saxophone in the band. Neil went on to a long-time career in construction, becoming a heavy equipment operator. In that endeavor, he was integral in laying many miles of fiber optic cable for then, Ohio Bell. He was so skillful; he could pick up a golf ball with a backhoe bucket. He used that knowledge to parlay his career into becoming a building inspector, where he retired from Franklin County in that capacity.
Neil loved to golf, bowl, and play darts in his spare time, but there was nothing better he loved to do than coaching little league football. He started as a statistician with the Riverbend Raiders organization, then moved to the Westgate Boys and Girls organization following his growing family. There he coached the Falcons, Eagles and Hawks. He finished his coaching career with the Westside Dolphins and undoubtedly touched the lives of many young people.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joni L Fulton and his blended family, Roger Fulton, Tim (Laura) Fulton, Lynn (Shawn) Wolfenberger, Shari (Sean) Dugan, Joseph Stillwell, Valerie (Randall) Kinzel. Grandchildren Jesta, Holley, Nicholas, Casey, Turner, Raulegh, Owen, Molly, Erin, Chance, Chayce, Logan, Senea, Randall, Kenny, and Nicholas. Great Grandchildren, William, Raquel and Connor, and the mother of his Children, Beatrice (Weikert) Fulton.
Friends may call at Newcomer-Southwest Chapel on Friday, November 25, 2022. Visitation is from 12:00pm to 2:00pm followed by a memorial service. Please join the family for a celebration of life after at Sport & Spirits, 2042 Eakin Road.
