Robert E. Hammond of Columbus, Ohio, passed away September 12, 2021.
He was born in New Lexington, Ohio on July 7, 1933 to the late Joseph and Alice (McGreevy).
Surviving family includes loving wife of 63 years, Veronica (Schmelzer); children, Thomas, Joseph (Julie), Susie (Tom), Karleen (Scott), Sandy (Scott); 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings, Jack, Phil, Jerry, Tim, Teresa, Sue, Steve; as well as many other loving extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his youngest son, Patrick; siblings, James, Lowell, Michael and Vincent.
Robert retired from Ohio Dominican University after over 30 years.
He loved wood working and crafts.
Robert proudly served in The United States Army receiving a Good Conduct Medal in June of 1955.
He will be truly missed by those who knew him.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Lane, Powell Ohio 43065. A second Visitation will be held at 10:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at 11:00 am on Friday, September 17, 2021 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Road, Columbus - OH 43230. Burial will take place in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lockbourne - OH.
