Robert G. Kelly, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, went to his heavenly home on March 9, 2021. He was born on April 6, 1944 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Victor and Jeanette (Drozd) Kelly.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Kathy Kelly; his children, Tim, Meghan, and Lauren (John); his grandchildren, Michelle, Declan, Callan, and Ronan; and his many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Kelly.
Bob was a modest man who rarely discussed his many accomplishments. He served in the US Navy from 1963 to 1967 where he acted as a communication specialist, among other covert missions. After returning to the United States, he worked as a design engineer for many years at American Electric Power. He later took on his passion of helping young professionals build their career through the development of his company, General Research.
Bob was a selfless and caring man who touched many hearts with his uplifting humor and cheerful spirits. He was known for his limitless generosity and compassion towards others. Bob always put the needs and wants of others before his own. He wanted for nothing and gave everything. All of his family and friends loved him dearly.
Bob's greatest accomplishment was being a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather. His support for his family was unwavering and he loved unconditionally. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 44 years. He taught his children the value of hard work, to see the goodness in others, to "take no prisoners," and always lead with kindness.
In lieu of flowers the Kelly family is asking for family and friends to remember Bob by taking a break from all their worries and watch an episode of Cheers.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
Dad - You were always and forever will be where everyone knows your name. And until we see you again, we will give 'em hell. We love you.
