Robert Lee Allis, 87, passed from this life surrounded by his loving family on January 8, 2009. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus serving two terms as Grand Knight, member of The American Legion, National and Ohio Watchmakers Association, and active in many civic activities such as church choir and community theater. He was active for over 60 years as a watchmaker, spending the last 10 years as the Senior Watch Repairman at the Diamond Cellar of Columbus. Preceded in death by his parents Lee Joseph and Francis Burgeon; and sister Nancy Strauss. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary; daughter, Gerrie (Jerry) McDonald; grandchildren, Kristin (Greg) Hymrod, Brian (Kristi) Bulkowski; great grandchild, Jacob Lee Hymrod; sister, Gwen Michael of Ind. Friends may call from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. A Christian Mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Church of The Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., New Albany, OH 43054. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to HomeReach Hospice at Ohio Health Foundation 180 E. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43214.
