Robert L. "Bunk" Hern, 82, of Gahanna, passed away, Sunday, September 6, 2009, at Tuscany Gardens. Bunk is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara; children, Lisa (Brian) McDonald, Robert (Janet) Hern Jr., Linda (Mark) Hurst-Roelle, Lori (Jean) Steigerwald, James Steigerwald and Jennifer (John) Berry; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He served in the US Army. Bunk retired from Columbia Gas and Conrail. He was one of the original proprietors of Gahanna Lanes where he and Barb taught a generation of children to bowl. Visitation, Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 5-8PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH. Funeral Service, Thursday, September 10, 2009, at 10 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bunk's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, OH 43221.
