Robert Clifford McDonald, 59, Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Born to the late William C. and Thelma L. (Butler) McDonald in Columbus, OH on November 13, 1949, Bob is survived by his brother, William E. McDonald; niece, Aliese (Timothy) Fenstemaker; nephew, William D. McDonald; great nieces and nephews, Jeanette, Olivia, Lillian, Nasia, Robert and Isaiah; family friends, Thomas and Melinda Thompson and Gary Bedard; many additional nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was a graduate of Columbus St. Francis Desales High School class of 1968 where he played football and participated in track and field events. He coached football, basketball and track several years at St. Gabriel Middle School as well as little league football in Gahanna Ohio. He coached the freshman football team at Desales High School. He also attended The Ohio State University. Bob worked for the Franklin County Sheriff's Department for 28 years including 12 years as a homicide investigator. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 PM.
