MILLER
Robert O. (Bob) Miller, age 93, recently a resident of Abbington Assisted Living of Pickerington, longtime resident of Bexley & Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016.
A veteran of WWII, serving in Europe, where as a gifted drummer in civilian life prepared him to be an excellent "bug" Morse code operator. A former Lazarus employee for over 40 years, Bob retired as an executive in major appliances and was a member of Parkview Presbyterian Church.
Preceded in death by wife Maryanna (Sharkey) Miller; daughter Jennifer Ann Bosveld; grandson Chris Groce; brothers Babe and Bud; sister-in-law, Patricia Sharkey of Columbus, brother-in-law, John David (Beatrice) Sharkey of Evergreen, CO; father & mother in-law, Earl & Virginia Sharkey of Reynoldsburg, OH; and special friend, Helen [Hetty] Hoover.
He is survived by his sister, Marilyn Bates of Cincinnati; grandson, David (Tina) DeRhodes; brother-in-law, Steven Daniel (Sandy) Sharkey of Silver Spring, MD; many wonderful nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Originally from Cincinnati, he was a life-long Cincinnati Reds baseball fan. Bob was an avid golfer & bowler, playing in leagues with Lazarus dept. store friends over many years. He was an enthusiastic player of chess, card games, horseshoes, billiards, and ping-pong, enjoying countless hours of fun with family and friends. Bob lived an enviably well-balanced, conservative lifestyle of family, work & friends. Decent, dignified, soft-spoken, respected, loved deeply – a treasured family member through thick and thin, always there when needed.
