Robert S. Hammel

Robert S. Hammel (Bob) went home to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday morning, July 20, 2024. His passing was just four days before the anniversary of his marriage to his beloved wife, Della Marie, of 77 years, who preceded him in death. He celebrated 100 years of life with family and friends in November 2023. He was a member of the Calvary Apostolic Church at 2551 W. Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio for 61 years. Bob was a World War II veteran who loved his country and was very proud of his service. Bob was preceded in death by his father Samual H. Hammel, mother Lena M. (nee Ramsire) and step-mother Margret (nee Samberg). He was also preceded in death by siblings John Hammel, Louise (William) Faulkner, Martha (Burkley) Faulkner, Josephine (Bob) Black and Mary (Bob) McConnell. Bob is survived by his three children Robert A. (Patricia) Hammel, Gary (Linda) Hammel and Janice Hammel and seven grandchildren Scott (Shelia) Hammel, Cheri Rawls, Mike (Laura) Hammel, Mark (Kara) Hammel, Yvonne Hilderbrand, Corissa Dyer and Heather Hammel. Bob left a rich heritage with 15 great grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be receiving guests at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Bishop James Stark and Pastor Jimmy Stark will officiate the funeral service directly following visitation at 11:00 am at the funeral home. A military graveside service to follow at Concord Cemetery, 6244 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio.
