RODERICK “ROD” HAL WARNER
Died October 07, 2024, at Mount Carmel Hospital Grove City following a heart attack at home on October 05, 2024. Age 70. Preceded in death by mother Mary Agnes “Aggie” Warner, father Max “McGee” Warner, wife Sandra “Sandy” Warner, stepson Richard “Rick” Leavitt. Survived by sisters Miranda “Nan” Warner and Susan Warner Klingspor; stepchildren Charles “Chuck” (Heather) Leavitt and Tamera “Tammy” (Darren) Rigel; step-grandchildren Charles “Chaz” Leavitt, Tyler Leavitt, Carli and Casey Rigel; step-great granddaughters Sophie and Stella Leavitt; nephews Daniel (Marlin), Marcus, and Ian (Danae) Klingspor; grand nieces and nephews Jade, Esmeralda, Daniel, Jr., Jonas, Maria Elena, and Gideon Klingspor; paternal cousin Duane Yaktin and family; maternal aunt, uncle, and cousins; friend and companion Kathleen “Kathi” Jensen; numerous friends and associates.
Rod graduated from Columbus West High School in 1972, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp. He completed boot camp at Parris Island, S.C. and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After an honorable discharge, Rod worked in the oil fields in Kansas for a short time. After returning to Columbus Rod worked full-time while he attended and graduated from Columbus State Community College (Cum Laude in electro-mechanical engineering). He was a former employee at Johnson Controls and Tosoh. He retired from Abbott.
Rod was a Master Mason at West Gate F & AM Lodge No. 623. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner. He served in several positions and was installed as Worshipful Master twice. He was a member of Widows Sons of Ohio, Middle Chamber Chapter, a charitable Masonic motorcycle riders association. He volunteered at Feed My Sheep Ministries food pantry and at the Delaware County fair, where he shuttled visitors to and from the parking lot and collected donations for the Shriner’s Hospital. He was a member of Central Ohio Anglers & Hunters Club, and a certified NRA firearms instructor. He also worked at election polls. Importantly, Rod was a registered organ and tissue donor.
Rod’s funeral will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 (614) 539-6166. Viewing and visitation will be 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Services will begin at 3:00 PM, which will include a Masonic service and a closing military eulogy and salute.
