Roland Milton George, 95, of Columbus Ohio passed away on October 31st, 2022. He was born on August 4th, 1927 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Victor George and Elsa Richardson. He was a man of varied interests but none higher than the love of his family, including his wife of over 50 years Dorothy, and their many kids and grandkids. Roland, affectionately known as "Pops", was to the George family what every family needs – a person who is capable, willing, resourceful, firm, dependable, selfless, wise and loving.
He was a lover of classical music and would visit Carnegie Hall often in his early days to see live orchestra performances of his favorite sonata's, he loved all things New York including the Mets, Yankees, Giants and Jets along with the art and culture that the city offers. He loved his grandkids to no end, and he was known by them to share the tastiest chocolate chip, raisin and his favorite sugar cookies on a regular basis before and after dinner! He was a proud and honorable veteran of the United States Air Force, and a member of the Catholic Diocese of Columbus where his spiritual heart resided. His professional work life consisted of being the consummate salesman, and the highlight of which was a career as Regional Sales Director for Western Union where he won multiple national salesman of the year awards during his time with the company.
Roland will be deeply missed by his Children Phillip, Conrad, Anthony, Chris, Liza and Stuart along with his sister Norma and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are too numerous to name.
