Roma V. Hewlett, born to the late Roy and Omey (Ward) Varney on July 11, 1929 in Kimper, KY, died December 31, 2009 at Raleigh Nursing Center, Daniels, WV, after a long illness. Roma was also preceded in death by her son, Goldean May (PeeWee); husbands, Golden May and Daniel Hewlett; brothers, Rosco and Floyd Varney; and sisters, Vicie Varney, Creasid Hewlett and Noaimi Blackburn. She is survived by her siblings, Quellie Espositio of Vinton, OH, Hazart Varney of Vinton, OH, Robert Varney of Columbus, OH, Verlin Varney of Pataskala, OH, Celia Varney of Vinton, OH, Lurlie Resso of Long Key, FL and Lee Varney of Waverly, OH; children, Roma Ellen (Toney) Lester of Iaeger, WV, Alexander (Cher) May of Westerville, OH, and Rickey May of FL; daughter-in-law, Wanda May; grandchildren, Lonnie and Larry May, Shannon Muncy, Chad Lester, and Dean, Devon and Dustin May; great-grandchildren, Brennon, Paige, and Adam May, Logan Shannon, Brady and Brody Lester, Emily Rose May, and Ashley, Alandra, Kayla, Larry and Tori May. Roma attended church at Pad's Fork Baptist Church in Steeles, WV. She loved to make cross stitching crosses for family and friends. Visitation Monday, January 4, 2010 from 4-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH. Funeral Service Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 12PM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
